October Meeting – A Night full of Cake!
Hello Sydney PHPers!
I've some great news for you all - We have an upcoming meeting! When is it? October 7th (that's a Wednesday). Where is it? Google HQ!
I would like to take the opportunity to once again thank Pamela Fox not only for her presentation back in July but also for hooking us up once again at Google HQ.
So what's on the agenda for the October meeting? Well as the name suggests, its going to be full of Cake - not the eatable type, but rather the PHP type. That is to say, we have a special presenter coming to Sydney to introduce the wonders of the CakePHP Framework.
Graham Weldon, from the Cake Development Corporation, will be presenting an overview of the CakePHP framework, and an introduction to the MVC design pattern as adopted by CakePHP. This presentation will discuss the structure and organisation of information with a CakePHP application, and provide an insight into the extensibility and flexibility of the framework. Note that this will not be a comparison to other frameworks. It will be a stand alone introduction/overview.
Later in the night (after we've stuffed ourselves with food (possibly cake!)), Graham will host a workshop so we can all experience CakePHP first-hand. This means you're all encouraged to bring your laptops, or buddy-up with someone who will be bringing a laptop so you can share.
Everyone is encouraged to attend this valuable presentation and workshop. Please RSVP ASAP so we can get a good idea of numbers for the catering company. After that, mark it in your calendars and we'll see you on the night!
